Mukojima-Hyakkaen Gardens

Kiku-u Sahara, a wealthy antique dealer, established “Mukojima Hyakkaen” with the help of cultivated people in Edo whom Sahara knew.
At the opening of the garden, its main feature was 360 plum trees were in 10000 ㎡ of land.
In later years, many famous plants mentioned in classic Chinese and Japanese pieces of literature such as Shikyou or Manyoushu were planted: Bush Clover or Japanese pampas grass from Tsukuba etc. From that period on, people can enjoy flowers all four seasons.
