Mondo Park contains a stone monument dedicated to Nobel Prize-winner Yasunari Kawabata's novel, "Snow Country"
The stone monument is inscribed with calligraphy that was commissioned in 1965 when the monument was erected in Mondo Park.
The monument contains the famous opening sentences of Snow Country: "The train came out of the long tunnel into the snow country. The earth lay white under the night sky." Why not stop by the park on your next trip to Yuzawa and get a taste of Yasunari Kawabata's world?
